Mystery Game Information for the Son (Tom)
You don't have any idea who stole your mom's money. You are very worried about your own family. Your computer business is failing and your wife always wants more things.
You went to your mother's house because you wanted to see your sisters who were home from university. Your youngest sister Areen seemed very nervous and Majeda got into a big fight with your mom. You think Majeda should marry whoever she wants. You felt very sad for her but when you saw her yesterday she seemed better and you are happy for her.
You feel sad because of your business and you know it is your fault it is failing.
You love your mom. You are the oldest and for ten years it was just you and your parents. You feel you are the closest one to her.
You are selling your house but no one will buy it. Next month if you can't pay the 2,000 dinars the bank will take your house away. You thought your mother was going to help you but she didn't and this makes you sad.
You were very surprised to hear Anan got his race car because you know it cost 1,000,000 and he doesn't have a job.
You only have fifteen minutes because you are going to the bank to ask for another loan

Today's Letter from the Mystery Game
Dear Police,
My name is Areen. My mother was robbed of 10 million dinars. I know you will want to talk to me but you can't because I am in America. I am worried that you will suspect me but I did not steal the money. I borrowed enough money to get to America from my older brother Tom. I was surprised he had enough money to lend me some because I know his business is not going well. I have not talked to my family since I left Palestine.
He has always had trouble because he is such a poor businessman. That makes him sad but when he dropped off the money he seemed much happier than he had ever been. His wife looked beautiful too. She had some nice diamond earrings on.
I remember how my mother reminded us of the combination to the safe (that’s the number for the safe). She reminded us the day before she got robbed.
I am very sad for all my brothers and sisters. I am sad for my brothers because Anan will never get to be a race car driver because he can't afford a car. He asked all his friends and my mother and none would give him the money. He told me someone else bought his race car.
I am sad for Tom because his wife is so cruel. She hits him and calls him a poor donkey whenever he won't buy her things. My mother said he is a loser because his business is failing.
I am most sad for my sister Majeda. Her fiancé (the man she wants to marry) told her he would rather die than marry her if she didn't get the money. My mother told me she paid him 10,000 Sean Dinars to go away and never talk to Majeda again. I know the only way he would come back is if Majeda had a lot of money. If you need me to come back for a trial, send me an email in America. My email address is tlhhavidgf@mai.com.
Sincerely,
Areen

Mystery Game Information for the daughter (Majeda)
Your name is Majeda. You don't know who stole your mother's money and you don't care. You are very happy. You are getting married.
Your future husband is very poor and you wanted your mother to give you money so you could marry him. You had some very bad fights with your mom when she wouldn't give you the money but now you are going to get married with or without money.
You are not sad that your mom was robbed. You think she got what she deserved. You love your mom but you think she uses her money to be mean to people.
You feel very sorry for your older brother. You know that his wife told him she was going to divorce him if they lose their house. He told you two months ago that if he didn't start selling a lot of computers that he would lose his house in March.
He still has his house so you think the business must be going well. You are also happy for your younger brother who has a new 1,000,000 race car. You think that your mother must have bought it for him and that makes you happy.
You noticed your younger brother being very nice to your mother when you were all together before the robbery and you think that is why.
Your younger sister has left the country and you hope she is happy in America. She told you she found a job there and you are glad for her. It seems like everyone in the family is doing well except your mother.

Mystery Game Information for the Son (Anan)
Your name is Anan. You are 25. Your goal in life is to be a car racer. You can't afford to buy a race car. Your mother is rich but she thinks race car driver is a stupid job and she won't give you the money.
There is a very fast race car for sale. Two weeks ago you asked your mother to loan you money to buy it. She said no and told you to go to university. She called you stupid and lazy.
All your life your mother has called you stupid. She also hates your friends. She says all they do is sit in cafes and play cards.
Sometimes your mom gives you money but she never gives you very much and she always gets angry when you spend it. She yells at you when you ask for more. One of your friends agreed to help you buy the race car. It cost 1,000,000 dinars. This weekend you will race it.
You think the criminal is probably your older brother. His wife is always complaining that she doesn't have nice things. You know he is not good at business and his computers are cheap. Nobody wants to buy them.
You think he asked your mother for money and she said no and thats why he stole it. You know your older brother loves your mom but you still think he did it.

Mystery Game Information for the Mother
This is the information from the mystery game we have been playing. Here are the notes for the mother and for the two sons. These notes are the papers the actors had to play them.
MOTHER
You are the mother. You had 10 Million Sean Dinars and now they are all gone. In the last two days four members of your family have been to your house. No one else came inside the house.
Your daughters are 22 and 20. They are both in college and they both love nice clothes, jewelry and computer things. Your daughters were there on the 4th and the 5th.
Your older daughter wants to get married. Her name is Majeda. She wants to get married to a very poor man who doesn't have a job. You won't let her get married and she can't get married without money.
Your younger daughter, Areen, wants to go to America. You won't let her because you want her close to you. Last week she got angry and yelled "The only reason I stay is that I can't afford to go. I HATE YOU!!!" Later she said she was sorry.
Your sons were there on the fifth and the sixth. Your older son is 35. His name is Tom. He has a computer business but he hasn't been selling very many computers this year. He just bought a new house two months ago and he has to pay 2,000 Dinars every month for the house. He has a wife and two small children.
Your younger son, Anan, wants to be a car racer. He is 25. Sometimes his friends don’t seem like very good people. You love him but you worry that he is very irresponsible. Whenever you give him money he spends it too fast and always needs more.

New Teacher in 5A
As you may have heard we are transitioning to a new teacher this week. Ms. Fatimah's father fell ill and she had to return to South Africa. I have switched my classes to third and fourth grades and Mr. Tom will be teaching the fifth grade A class. For at least the first month I will be in class with Tom to ease the transition so there is no need to worry.

Last week I recommended a program to help you with reading on the internet. I downloaded and used it without a problem, as did the parent who recommended it to me, but a student told me that a virus infected his computer from downloading it so if you choose to use it be very careful and make sure your computer is protected

Water Fight Around the Corner????????????
The water fight will be sometime in the next month. Remember we never use new water for the water fight. How do we get the water? Use the water from your shower.
When you are waiting for the water to get warm, it is being wasted. Start catching that water in a bottle and saving it.
This year the water fight will be even better than it was in the past.

Test Monday
We will review a little Sunday and then have the atom test on Monday. Pajama Day was exciting and I didn't think it would be fair to hit the students with a test right afterwards.
Mr. Curtis stopped by Thursday to introduce the Culture Project he will be doing with the kids

Weekly Update
Good week so far. Four students have finished Dear Mr. Henshaw.
The science is going better than expected. Students are doing well and tomorrow we start working with the Periodic Table. Should be fun.
Thursday will probably be Pajama Day, the first Student Government Holiday.

Science, Reading and Debates
Are the three things we will be doing lots of. We are going to be talking about atoms, atomic structure, subatomic particles, what they do, and the periodic table.
I expect this will be very difficult for students, not least the vocabulary. We will have a general science test sometime soon with the material we covered in the last two weeks and the atom material.
We should finish Fudge-a-Mania and Dear Mr. Henshaw this week as well.
